Ofcom, an independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, has introduced new rule to make mobile phone consumers happier.
Ofcom’s has introduced new rule, now anyone in UK can transfer their existing mobile numbers to a new mobile company just in one working day. Before, this took at least 2 days to transfer the number between providers which required customers to obtain a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) via a letter or over the phone.
The telecom operators are required by Ofcom regulation to provide PACs immediately over the phone or within a maximum of 2 hours by a text message. Previously the way in which PACs were issued varied with some only issued by letter, which could take several days to arrive. The PAC number will still remain valid within 30 days and the consumer should provide this code to a new operator where the mobile number to be ported.
